Springfield's 224-foot Pillsbury Headhouse comes down, tallest ever razed there

The 224-foot Headhouse at the former Pillsbury Mills site in Springfield, Illinois, began demolition Oct. 29, the tallest building ever torn down in the city. Built in 1929, it once moved wheat vertically for grading and storage. Crews will separate metal for recycling and crush concrete on site, with Moving Pillsbury Forward estimating over 95% reused.
