Structural demolition starts at old Kent Community Hospital in Grand Rapids
Structural demolition has started on the 233,000-square-foot former Kent Community Hospital at 750 Fuller Ave. NE in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Erhardt Construction Superintendent Sam Dells said Monday. Interior asbestos abatement, called more extensive than expected, preceded the teardown. Kent County plans a four-story, 120,000-square-foot administrative building there, tentatively priced at $126 million, construction possibly starting next spring.
