Privacy Policy

1. Information you give us

• Account details: your name, email address, company, and job title. If you sign in with a provider such as Google or Microsoft, we receive your name and email address from that provider. If you manage a team, we also receive the email addresses of the teammates you invite.
• Billing details: payments are handled by our payment processor. We receive your billing name, email, billing address or country, card type, the last four digits of your card, and payment status. We do not receive or store full card numbers.
• Preferences and saved items: the bids you save and tag, your alert settings such as states and industry codes, and your newsletter choices.
• Messages and submissions: messages you send us through our forms or by email, story submissions, press releases, photos, documents, correction requests, and job listings. The contact email on a job listing is used only to follow up with you and is never published.
• Advertising inquiries: your name, work email, and company when you ask for our advertising rates, and any questions you send us about advertising.

2. Information collected automatically

• Device and log information: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that sent you to us, and the date and time. Our hosting provider records this to keep the Service secure and working.
• Cookies: small files that keep you signed in, remember that you have paid access (this cookie lasts up to 90 days), keep the Service secure, and count free article views where limits apply. See section 8.
• Usage information: how you use the Service, such as the features you use and the searches you run, so we can fix problems and improve it.
• Email activity: our newsletters and alerts may use standard tools that tell us whether an email was opened or a link was clicked.

3. Information from public sources

Our coverage is built from published news articles and public records, such as government solicitations, contract awards, and regulatory filings. These can include the names and business contact details of public officials, procurement contacts, company representatives, and people named in news reports. We publish this information as part of our news and public-record coverage.

The companies we tag as bidders or contractors, and any bid amounts we show, come from those same published reports and public records.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

• Provide the Service, including accounts, subscriptions, saved bids, and team seats.
• Process payments and send receipts, account notices, and security messages.
• Send the newsletters and alerts you ask for, and occasional news about Demolition.US products, which you can opt out of at any time.
• Respond to your messages, review tips and corrections, and publish submissions and job listings you send us.
• Understand how the Service is used, fix problems, and improve it.
• Protect the Service and its users, including preventing fraud, abuse, and account sharing.
• Comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Service.

5. Artificial intelligence

We use artificial intelligence services to find, sort, and summarize published news and public records. We do not use AI services to process your account, billing, or payment information.

6. How we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only in these cases:

• Service providers that run parts of the Service for us, such as hosting, databases, payment processing, sign-in, email delivery, analytics, and error monitoring. They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
• Your team. On a team plan, the team administrator can see members’ names, email addresses, seat status, and anything shared on the team’s board.
• Legal and safety reasons. To comply with the law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Demolition.US, our users, or others.
• Business transfers. As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
• With your permission.

If you ask to be a confidential source, we will not disclose your identity unless we are legally compelled to.

7. Advertising

We sell advertising directly to advertisers. We do not use third-party ad networks or track you across other websites, and advertisers do not receive your personal information. We may share combined audience figures that do not identify anyone. If this changes, we will update this policy first and give you any choices the law requires.

8. Cookies and your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies that keep you signed in or remember your paid access, those features will not work.

Because we do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there is currently nothing for a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal to turn off. If that changes, we will honor Global Privacy Control signals as the law requires.

9. Emails

Every newsletter and marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Receipts, security notices, and messages about your account are part of the Service, and we send them for as long as you have an account.

10. How long we keep information

• Account information: while your account is open, then deleted or de-identified within a reasonable time unless we need it for a reason below.
• Billing records: as long as tax and accounting laws require, generally seven years.
• Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe. We then keep your email address on a do-not-send list so we do not email you again.
• Log information: for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
• Tips, correspondence, and submissions: as long as we need them for our reporting, corrections, and legal obligations.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your sign-in details private and tell us right away if you think your account has been misused.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising. You may also have the right to appeal our decision on a request.

To make a request, email hello@demolition.us with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We may need to verify your identity, usually by confirming your email address. An authorized agent may make a request for you where the law allows, subject to verification. We respond within the time the law requires, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Requests to change published coverage, including contractor tags and public-record information, are reviewed under our Coverage Standards. We correct errors. Privacy laws generally do not require removing accurate news reporting or public records, but we consider every request.

13. Children

The Service is for professionals and is not directed to children under 16. You must be 18 or older to create an account or subscribe. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Where we operate

Demolition.US is based in the United States and is intended for users in the United States. Information is processed and stored in the United States.

15. Other websites

The Service links to publishers, government websites, employers, and other third parties. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version here and change the updated date at the top. If a change is material, we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
