UNC is preparing to demolish Jackson Hall in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, teardown expected between late August and early September, with major activity including heavy equipment, debris removal and truck traffic continuing until Sept. 14. The $159 million project will build two residence halls adding over 700 beds, completing fall 2028. Cobb Drive and part of Paul Green Theatre Drive are closed, and fencing around the site has blocked entrances and dumpster access for nearby Joyner Hall residents.

Demolition of Shoto Japanese Steakhouse and Seafood and The Candy Factory in Uptown Lexington, North Carolina, is set to start August 3, following a May 19 fire that collapsed both buildings.
