Demolition is underway at the former Lamar Elementary School building in Augusta, Georgia, clearing the site for the TGR Learning Lab, a STEAM school backed by Augusta National Golf Club and Tiger Woods’ TGR Foundation. The project was announced at the 2024 Chairman’s Press Conference, alongside renovations to The Patch. The free school is expected to open in 2028, serving more than 20,000 area students with college, career and youth golf programs.

Crews demolished the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia in 2017 using roughly 240 tons of explosives, then left the resulting 200,000-plus tons of concrete on site as backfill, raising the crater to about 14 feet to match surrounding grade. The Georgia World Congress Center Authority later built three structures atop that fill: the Home Depot Backyard tailgating area, the Orange Deck parking structure with over 600 spaces, and a 976-room convention hotel that opened in January 2024.

Trinity Green LLC and Atlanta Demolition LLC expect to finish razing the 2.5-million-square-foot former Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center campus in downtown Atlanta by late 2026, with Integral Program Management overseeing the work. FERMA Corp. and Magoba LLC handled asbestos abatement using negative-pressure containments and hydrojet paint removal before crews began vertical demolition in mid-September with a Volvo EC950 and Hitachi FE-115 high-reach excavator. Roughly 150,000 tons of concrete have been demolished, with about 90 percent expected to be recycled, and Phase 1 work now focuses on removing below-grade foundations and utilities.
