Former Farmers Hardware building in Forest City demolished after fire, $4M rebuild planned
D. H. Griffin Construction began prepping the former Farmers Hardware building at 110 W. Main St. in Forest City on Oct. 5, removing brick from the top down, with demolition expected to take about a month. West Main Street is closed to vehicles and pedestrians, with traffic detoured via Cherry Mountain and Thomas streets. Owner Phillip Byers plans a roughly $4 million mixed-use replacement, taking about a year to build once demolition finishes.
