Bank canopy demolished at 605 Davis St. in Evanston for 29-story tower

Crews began razing a former bank drive-thru at 605 Davis St. in Evanston Friday, clearing the way for a planned 29-story, 419-unit tower from Vermilion Development. The city issued demolition permits for the bank canopy this week, but foundation permits for the first four stories remain pending as officials seek more documentation. Completed, the tower would stand 298 feet, Evanston's tallest.
