Demolition begins on Berg Place housing complex in Pittsburgh's Carrick

Crews in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood began tearing down the seven-building Berg Place housing complex on Brownsville Road Tuesday, after more than a decade of vacancy and condemnation. The Urban Redevelopment Authority owns the site, which will be redeveloped with CHN Housing Partners and Amani Christian CDC into a 52-unit affordable housing development for seniors.
