Crews tear down St. Stephen Church in Oil City, PA, built in 1906
Bert Klapec, Inc. is demolishing St. Stephen Church at 21 State St. in Oil City, Pennsylvania, a Berea sandstone, brick and wood structure built in 1906 and owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie. Crews used excavators, an 80-foot high-lift, dump trucks and a skid loader, removing the apse and rear wall first and piling bricks as a ramp to reach upper sections while wetting debris with a firehose. The parcel covers about 0.24 acre, and no future use has been determined.
