Leftover dynamite detonates during Pittsburgh Parkway East bridge cleanup, no injuries

A leftover stick of dynamite detonated at the Commercial Street bridge implosion site on Pittsburgh's Parkway East, about 24 hours after the initial blast, when a piece of cleanup equipment struck it. PennDOT District 11's John Meyler confirmed the incident, caught on construction cameras around 7:40 a.m. on the 17th. No injuries or equipment damage resulted, crews resumed a second debris sweep, and work restarted about 12 hours later; PennDOT does not plan further investigation into the contractor.
