R&D Excavating wins $886,845 contract to raze West Park Shopping Center in Mansfield

R&D Excavating of Crestline won a Richland County Land Bank contract to demolish the former West Park Shopping Center on Mansfield's Park Avenue, submitting the lowest of nine bids at $886,845. The project is funded through a $1 million Ohio Department of Development brownfield grant and includes asbestos removal on the 17-acre site. Unlike R&D's earlier Westinghouse job, materials cannot be crushed onsite due to commercial zoning. Work must start within 30 days and finish by end of May, though the company expects completion by December.
