Colonel House Motel demolition underway in Owensboro, KY, city plans redevelopment
Demolition of the former Colonel House Motel at 1829 Triplett Street in Owensboro, Kentucky, began this week under a roughly $117,000 contract with Murphy Excavating that covers both demolition and asbestos abatement. The city, which bought the property for $600,000 last year after redevelopment proposals proved unworkable, expects the building leveled by week's end and debris cleared about a week later. Officials plan to leave a flat, seeded lot zoned B-4 and market it for private redevelopment, possibly through a new RFP.
