Route 13 relocation demolition in Mount Vernon, OH, half finished, AMVETS building next

Demolition work tied to relocating State Route 13 along South Sandusky Street in Mount Vernon, Ohio, is about half finished, according to Interim City Engineer Quentin Platt. Crews have removed two buried foundations and cleared structures including 300 W. Vine St., Water Wall Treasures and a nearby house, with the AMVETS building, a former Quick Lube and Dominos scheduled for demolition by early September. ODOT has opened bids and still plans to mobilize equipment Oct. 1, with no road closures planned this year since 2026 work stays outside the existing right of way.
