Van Wert gets $230,000 state grant to raze former Century Bar at 137 E. Central Ave

A $230,000 state grant will fund demolition of 137 E. Central Ave. in downtown Van Wert, the former Century Bar site, awarded to the Van Wert County Land Reutilization Corporation. It's the second building on the block slated for removal, following a $279,520 grant awarded in May for the adjacent 139 E. Central Ave. property. Both structures are long vacant and dilapidated; no demolition timeline has been set. The funding comes from Ohio's Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program.
