Duluth grain elevator to fall as Port Authority lands $27M for dock wall rebuild

The Duluth Seaway Port Authority will rebuild nearly a quarter mile of dock wall and demolish an old grain elevator at 602 Helberg Dr. on Rice's Point, funded by a $27 million federal Port Infrastructure Development Program grant matched with $8.4 million in state and local funds for a $38 million project. Work will also add new dock utilities. Finalizing the grant agreement and starting construction could take 12 to 18 months.
