Brown County commissioners in New Ulm, Minnesota unanimously approved forgiveness of up to $500,000 in loan funds tied to demolition of the former George's Ballroom, with $405,228.74 forgiven after the project met its two-year condition. Landwehr Construction of St. Cloud completed the demolition in February 2025 under an agreement with Fisher Development Company of Mankato, approved by commissioners in July 2024. Future construction financing will require a separate TIF loan request setting a building timeline; the planned redevelopment includes apartments, underground parking and commercial space, with construction expected to take 18 months once underway.
