Prep work starts on four Market Street buildings in Steubenville, teardown set for September

Preparation work started Tuesday on four late-1800s buildings at 328, 330, 332 and 336 Market St. in downtown Steubenville, Ohio, ahead of a full teardown planned for September. Property owner and developer Andrew Sharples said crews are first stabilizing a wall over a neighboring antiques warehouse and weatherproofing its roof before demolition proceeds. The site will become a brewery development with a two-story new build, a private alleyway with wrought iron gates, and an enclosed beer garden. Sharples said he worked with the Historical Landmarks Commission before deciding to remove the buildings.
