Implosion clears former Mandarin Oriental hotel site on Brickell Key in Miami

Swire Properties brought down the former 23-story Mandarin Oriental hotel and its six-story parking garage at 500 Brickell Key Drive in Miami on April 12, following nearly two years of planning with the City of Miami, The BG Group, Controlled Demolition Inc. and Moss Construction. Debris removal could take up to six months before groundbreaking, anticipated in late 2026. Site work included container walls, temporary barges, vibration and air monitors, and a baseline marine survey of Biscayne Bay. The 66- and 34-story replacement towers target 2030 completion.
