Norfolk to finalize contract for Military Circle Mall demolition, work starts in October

Norfolk expects to finalize a demolition contract for the former Military Circle Mall within a week, with October work covering equipment mobilization, stakeholder engagement and permit filing ahead of actual demolition. Thirteen bids were submitted this summer for the 56-year-old vacant site. The city says the full process will run roughly 15 months, while Norfolk's Economic Development Authority pursues site studies through a state Accelerated Site Characterization grant to prepare the 74-acre property for future redevelopment.
