127-year-old Keystone Fire Company building demolished in Columbia, PA after storm damage

Crews began demolishing the 127-year-old Keystone Fire Company building on North Fourth Street in Columbia Borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on Monday, after engineers determined storm damage from last week made the structure too unstable to save. Owner Cory Shoemaker said a restoration company deemed the collapse too severe to handle after a section of exterior wall came down. He plans no rebuild, and the borough is arranging to donate salvaged bricks to residents. Demolition is expected to take about 30 days.
