Wheeling panel backs demolition on 14th Street for $58.7M JC Lando hotel project

The Wheeling Historic Landmarks Commission voted to recommend demolition of several buildings on 14th Street between Water and Main streets, clearing the site for the $58.7 million JC Lando waterfront hotel development. Reclaim Company LLC of Fairmont, W.Va was the low bidder on the demolition contract, with the work expected complete by year's end and construction to follow permitting, running 18-24 months. Columns, a cornerstone and light fixtures will be salvaged and stored, though not incorporated into the new build. The recommendation now goes to Wheeling City Council for final approval.
