Eveready Diner demolition finished in Rhinebeck, N.Y., site cleared of debris

Demolition of the fire-damaged Eveready Diner at 6595 U.S. Route 9 in Rhinebeck, N.Y., is complete, with the site cleared and debris removed, Code Enforcement Officer Michael Dugard told the Town Board. The order to demolish, issued in June, took nearly six weeks to secure contractors and complete asbestos studies. Officials postponed setting a completion deadline, opting to revisit the matter at the board's Sept. 14 meeting after Dugard meets with the owner to discuss remaining site work.
