Alexandria City Hall asbestos work done, 1960s addition removal set for September

Six months of asbestos and hazardous material removal at Alexandria City Hall, 301 King Street, has wrapped up, but unexpected contamination found in the 1960s south façade and east and west courtyards pushed the schedule back 10 weeks, to a fall 2028 completion. Crews will begin deconstructing the 1960s addition in September. Separately, a temporary pile system to stabilize the underground Market Square garage perimeter is being installed through early fall 2026, ahead of that structure's deconstruction.
