First Baptist Church of Jacksonville auditorium down, clearing site for Gateway Jax project

Crews in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, have finished tearing down the former main auditorium of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, with the structure fully down as of September 23. Excavator operators worked the site to sort debris and recyclables, using steel girders to shift material into piles. Developer Gateway Jax bought the property and plans an apartment tower and a Publix store there.
