Greeley’s round former city hall demolition begins, site to become county parking lot

Crews began tearing down Greeley’s round former city hall on Thursday, with the largest structures expected down by Wednesday and cleanup lasting a few more weeks. The city opted to demolish rather than renovate after estimating $33 million in repairs, including asbestos removal and an outdated HVAC system. The site will become a temporary Weld County parking lot under a land swap tied to the Downtown Civic Campus, which also includes a new $83.6 million city hall set to begin construction this fall.
