Old Polk-Quincy Viaduct demolition finished in Topeka, one lane to open in December

The Kansas Department of Transportation has finished demolishing the old Polk-Quincy Viaduct along I-70 in downtown Topeka, with debris slated for recycling into future projects. One lane in each direction on the new eastbound structure is set to open in December, per KDOT metro engineer Steve Baalman, while the westbound bridge and alignment work continue into next season. Traffic patterns remain unchanged in the meantime.
