Hartford's $9.4 million demolition of the vacant former bank data processing center on Windsor Street now targets October completion, delayed from June. Environmental contractors begin abatement Monday inside the 190,000-square-foot building, with piece-by-piece dismantling exposing the structure through summer as concrete exterior panels are individually stripped of asbestos, crushed and trucked away. The fourth side, facing Dunkin' Park, won't be tackled until after the Yard Goats' September home finale. The city is funding work partly through a $6 million brownfields grant, ahead of a planned $90 million AI center and $30 million hotel.
