Seven bids opened for demolition of 1914 Nueces County courthouse in Corpus Christi

Nueces County, Texas, opened seven bids Thursday for demolition and asbestos abatement of the 1914 Old County Courthouse in Corpus Christi, with all but one falling within the projected budget. Public works director Juan Pimentel will oversee the project, with Hanson Engineering providing oversight and Paul Pilarczyk as engineer director; salvaging materials from the site will not be permitted. A recommendation for conditional contractor selection goes to commissioners Oct. 14, with demolition expected to start after the new year and finish by March or April.
