Benton, KY awards $52,000 bid to raze former First Methodist Church

Benton, Kentucky city council awarded the demolition of the former Benton First Methodist Church to Siteworks LLC of Almo, Kentucky, whose bid came in well under the $331,000 high bid from a Georgia firm among seven submitted. Demolition is expected to begin in early October, after a final church service planned in the parking lot on Sept. 27, and will likely close one to two blocks of Poplar Street for about a week.
