Crews use high reach excavator to demolish 4,000-foot I-70 bridge in Kansas City

Greg Bair Track Hoe Service is demolishing the I-70 westbound bridge connecting downtown Kansas City to the western suburbs, a structure 4,000 feet long and 70 feet wide. Crews are using a Volvo EC480 HR high reach excavator, extending to 75 feet, with a shear attachment to cut diaphragms between steel girders and a hoe ram to take down piers. The work must finish before contractors can begin building the replacement bridge.
